demand only the highest-quality in video content to maintain brand dominance across TV, web, and mobile. Our track record includes successful series and short-form content in the spaces of entertainment, media, publishing, and tech.
Automaton has the unique honor among agencies to have helped over a dozen brands make public launches and close $1 million+ of VC investment through tailor-made video content scaled to reach investors, tech partners, and early adopters.
Let’s get to know each other. More than just hearing about your project, we need to get to know you and your brand’s story—that’s the secret to capturing your unique voice. What are your goals? What makes you stand above the competition? Hearing your story straight from you allows us to generate a custom-tailored campaign for your business that matches your brand’s personality. The end result will be unique, impassioned and leave the audience feeling like your brand was talking directly to them.
With an embarrassingly talented agency-trained creative staff, Automaton will develop a blueprint that fits right for your brand positioning, timeline, and target audience, plus what we uncover during our market trends research. Our full-service proposals are turnkey solutions for content strategy, broadcast, video, social, mobile, web, and advertising. Our goal is to help you cross these off your to-do list by providing a comprehensive plan where you choose what makes the most sense for your business.
Automaton creates campaigns complete from end-to-end, providing our clients maximum quality and value with an experienced in-house production company and design studio. Our talent pool includes filmmakers, designers, visual effects artists, animators, composers, and developers who spend their time creating for us and other major Hollywood film and TV studios. We’ll keep you updated every step of the way through the creative process!
The secret to an effective ad campaign is identifying who your champions will be both inside and outside your brand’s following and reaching them as early as possible. Early adopters, decision makers, niche bloggers, influencers. We have deep knowledge on how to identify and engage these allies to multiply the impact of targeted ad spends for entertainment, media, music, tech, e-commerce, food, and minority-focused content campaigns.
In 2009, we set off to create a new kind of video company, run by filmmakers, driven by cinematic storytelling, a collective of video advertising passion. We specialize in creating original video content that tells an interesting story creatively. This adventure in video has come to be called Automaton.
Our core focus working with major entertainment and media brands affords us a broad expertise across content marketing, advertising, and filmmaking.
When creating our video concepts, we focus on delivering the rich visual storytelling that viewers have come to expect from their most trusted brands.
But mostly, we love video and want to have a million of its babies. We execute productions across the disciplines of live action performance, animation, motion graphics, visual effects, and video documentation.
Automaton Creative was founded by Rene Amador and Jocelyn Hsu. In 2002, they created one of the first viral web videos to get millions of views. In the next decade, more than 150 companies approached them to create video content for their brands, and now enjoy serving as de facto web video experts.
Rene has 15 years experience as a filmmaker, digital marketer, and creative director. He got his start creating one of the first online viral video hits, Real Ultimate Power, which got 3 million views back in 2002 (Ki-yah!). He’s worked on the marketing for major releases like Transformers, TMNT, The Good German, American Idol, and more. Since cofounding Automaton, Rene’s completed over 150 campaigns for brands like Verizon, Starbucks, AT&T, Fox, LEGO, Universal, Honda, and Playboy. Rene's obsession with making viral content started as a teenager when he competed in the infamous Something Awful Photoshop Phridays, where he unwittingly helped create the image macro ``meme`` (he's sorry).
Jocelyn has worked behind the scenes at Fox on some of the most engaging unscripted TV properties, including American Idol, The X- Factor, MasterChef, So You Think You Can Dance, and more. She's also made her mark running the Live App experience for NBC's hit shows The Voice and America’s Got Talent. Since co-founding Automaton, she’s produced hundreds of commercial campaigns, shorts, and original series content. Jocelyn also created and manages her own blog network, The Unaccomplished Lady, which covers lifestyle topics written by very accomplished women. She keeps it real by being an avid gamer, swinging kettlebells, and holding yoga poses.
Eric has experience as a copywriter, producer, project manager, and has helped define and launch the branding for numerous tech start-ups. Some of the big names he’s worked with include The Voice, America’s Got Talent, The History Channel, Paramount, TNT, and Fox. With a focus on the future of technology and media, he’s recently forayed into digital content production as a live operations producer for second screen experiences, as well as creating and hosting the podcast show, “At the Point of a Knife”, where he interviews the newest generation of horror filmmakers. Eric once shook Sir Patrick Stewart’s hand, and his life was forever changed.
